Before it was Iximché, capital cachiquel, in indigenous territory of the Guatemalan plateau, and later named first capital of Guatemala with the name of Santiago of the Horsemen by Don Pedro de Alvarado in century XV. From century XVIII is known it like Old Guatemala, happening being the second more important city of the country after the present capital, City of Guatemala.
It is located in the middle of three imposing volcanos: Water (3' 766 ms), Fire (3' 763 ms) and Acatenango (3' 976 ms).

Also they offer another type of attractive, like the mariposario of Jocotenango, on the one hand, or mentioned volcanos: the Water Volcano, ideal for become fond of mountain climbers, and those of Fuego and Acatenango, that constitute an adventure for expert mountain climbers.
