As of century XVI, the Portuguese capture in Africa whole black tribes that soon transport in subhuman conditions, on board negreros ships to the ports of Recife, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Under condition of slaves they are sold and taken to work to the cane plantations of sugar and cotton of the landed gentlemen. The mixture of different African groups becomes in the Senzalas, sheds very reduced where they slept hacinados.
From this exchange of information a dance is developed liberating that practiced in the forest, abriendo clear that they called Capoeiras.
In century XVII it had his greater apogee in Brazil. During years it was persecuted and punished for being considered dangerous and criminal.
In 1932, Mestre Bimba removes capoeira from the streets it puts and it in academies.
In 1937, the government makes official capoeira giving to Bimba authorization for his academy. In that same year he is recognized as he deports Brazilian national and in 1995, as he deports Olympic.
Instruments:
- Berimbau: Symbol of capoeira and main instrument of the Stem; it consists of a wood twig, a wire and a pumpkin, accompanied by a canastito of seeds (Caxixi).
