Capital of Nord Yungas, Coroico is a town located to 1.700m of altitude and very known by the international tourism, due to its benign climate and to its supply of services oriented to the rest, very solicitd after the proposals of activities that the region grants.
As far as the temperatures, the days are warm (around 26 degrees C) and the nights are fresh (around 16 degrees C). There is almost no difference enters the dry time (May to December) and the time of rain (January to April).
The way from La Paz to Coroico is extremely beautiful. It begins in La Paz to an altitude of 3,400 meters, raises the Summit (4,500 meters) and descends through rocky mountains, tips snow-covered and the fog forest until the subtropical landscape of the Yungas.
During World War II, Coroico was refuge of a colony of Jews German, although with the passage of the years they were being based in other regions. In addition, in the zone black communities like Tocaña or Mururata exist.
In the neighborhood of Coroico there are many possibilities of easy excursions: to walk in mountains; to lower to rivers with suspension bridges or to cascades; to visit the towns; cocaine plantations, coffee, citruses and bananas; to do rafting or to rent horses.
Coroico has hotels of different category, a German pastry shop, restaurants with Bolivian, French, Mexican and Argentine food; taverns and coffees. In the nights it is possible to be enjoyed, in the discotheques, of Bolivian folkloric music or cumbia, rock and techno.
Two exist coffee-Internet; calls to the foreigner can be realized from ENTEL, and the Western Union Bank, changes to money and checks.
