Jutiapa, well-known as “the Cradle of the Sun” to receive to the rising sun, has many attractive natural duties to the great volcanic activity that the zone had formerly.
Jutiapa has a very warm and dry climate in the low coast and valleys. In high earth, next to Moyuta volcano, the temperate climate predominates. They emphasize: the volcano of Ipala and the lagoon of the same name that rests on its crater, located in the White Water municipality; Ixtepeque volcano and the Laguneta Obrajuelo, two sites that present/display a landscape of very particular beauty. To its step, the Mongoy river forms beautiful cataracts. Also the San Juan caves have to be mentioned the Mines, Blue Poza of Mongoy and the Tears of the Soul. In its jurisdiction is the lake of Güija, shared with El Salvador.
In the Papalhuapa village vestiges of a pre-Hispanic temple exist. In Asuncio'n Mita the Poza of the Lechuza can be enjoyed the spas, the Window, the Vegona, Mongoy, Atatupa and the Mongoyito Stroll. The spa of Andamirá in Jalpatagua, and the market of crafts of Zapotitlán, is those of greater affluence.
This department also owns beaches that, although less known than those more tourist regions of the country, constitute one of the great landscaping wealth of the region.
The cultural wealth of Jatiapa is fruit of the mestization: There where xinca bloomed the culture, at the moment it was extinguished.
