The Jesuits followed a model of missions quite different from the one from other present religious orders in Latin America. The missions that constructed, calls Reductions, were small self-sufficient communities in which they taught techniques of agriculture, construction or crafts. They were almost utopian models of coexistence between the Colonizing missionaries and the guaraníes Indians. In fact, the important presence of the guaraní culture in present Paraguay must to a great extent to this respectful relation and the mestization promoted by her.
The tracks of this matchless religious socioeconomic organization (1609-1768) are in the located ruins, all of them, in the Departments of Misiones and Itapúa, between the rivers Tebicuary and Parana.
