The National Park Canaima Located in the south-east end of Venezuela, interlace with the Great Savannah, in the Guayanés Shield. Created the 12 of June of 1962, it is the sixth greater Park of the world. It has a supeficie of 3.000.00 hectares.
It includes the totality of the Eastern river basin and superior of the Caroni river, hydric source of the hydroelectric complex major of Venezuela, and the river basins of the rivers Carrao, Kukenán, Yuruaní, Aponwao and Surukun.
The Park occupies the northeastern sector of the Guayanés shield, that corresponds to a precámbrico plinth with rocks among 900 and 3,500 million years, on which are the quartzites and the silíceos conglomerates of Roraima. The predominant forms correspond to a combination of tepuyes, plains and valleys.
Between tepuyes they are the Auyan-Tepuy (2,400 ms) from where Salto arises Angel, who with his fall of 979 ms is he more stop of the world; the one of Roraima (2,810 ms); the one of Chimata (2,700 ms); the one of Kukenán (2,600 other 34 ms) and tepuy more. The vegetation in these tepuies varies from the tropical humid forest, in the bases and slopes, to shrubs and pastures in the top, with a great diversity of endemic species; in the areas of savannahs and valleys the pulses and the morichales predominate, with presence of gallery forests.
The fauna is varied and depends on the height and the type of vegetation. They honor the anteater, the jaguar, the giant otter, the araguatos fox and monkeys; between the birds, the eagle arpía, the palomero hawk, guacamaya dwarfed and the colibrí, jaguar or tiger and cunaguaro.
In the Park have been vestiges of a significant pre-Hispanic indigenous town; at present, communities of the indigenous ethnic group Pemón live in this territory. Its territory was recognized in century XVIII by the Catalan Capucin missionaries.

JUMP ANGEL
South-east cataract of of Venezuela, located in the Churún river, affluent of the Carrao. It is the interrupted cataract more discharge of the world, fifteen times greater than the Cataracts of the Niágara; its fall is of 979 ms from the table of the Auyan Tepuy, in the forests of the bulk.
One is within the National Park Canaima but geographically it does not belong to the zone of the Great Savannah. It was open pie (shown the world) in 1937 by the aviator and American adventurer James C. Angel, from whom receives the name.
Salto Angel is called by the Kerekupai-merú natives, who in the Pemón language mean “jump of the deepest place”. Although also this is known like Churún-Merú, is an error since that name corresponds to another jump located at the end of the Tube of the Devil.
TEPUY AUYANTEPUY (Cradle of Jump Angel)
Tepuy of greater surface of all is the Auyantepuy, cradles of the famous “Jump Angel” with 979 M.s is named of tepuys along with the Roraima.
With a height average that goes up to around 2500m, the Auyantepuy is a gigantic water supplier of the National Park Canaima, in season of rains can descry tens of imposing jumps, many of them going up to around the 200 and 300 meters of height. Another water jump of considerable magnitude is the Churun- Merú of about 350 ms of height.
Considered the Mount Olympus of the Gods Arekunas, its correct name is “Aiyantepuy” that means mountain of hell, although it is often defined as mountain of the devil.
The indigenous tradition “Pemón” expresses that in its summit is the house of " mawariton”, malignant spirits and of “Tramán-Chita” the supreme being of the evil. Other sites of interest in the Auyan-Tepuy are: The Valley of the Thousand Columns, the Stone Monkey, the small plane of Jimmy Angel, the Dinosaurio of stone, the Jump Curtain, the Churún Jump, the Tube Goes deep.
In the Auyantepuy there is many sites of interest and natural beauty. The grotto of Kavac can be visited, in the indigenous community of that name. Thence excursions to diverse places are realized and is a magnificent view of a sector of the Tepuy.
The Auyantepuy is very rich in vegetation and dense forests that lodge great variety of endemic species and much fauna, mainly birds. Very visited by scientists of diverse countries that realize important investigations on the vegetal species as as much insectivorous that still they are without registering.
The cataract is more spectacular in the season of rain although sometimes a little cloudy is seen. In the dry season, it is possible to be visualized better since the sky is cleared but it loses spectacularity to the smaller being the volume of water.
